What is it about a dog, you ask? A dog is one of the very few perfect creatures in this world. You can rest assured that your dog will never criticize you, you can depend on him to be there when you need him, and he will entertain you daily in a million delightful and surprising ways you could never have imagined!
What dog can do all that? Do you see that silly dog in the photo to the right?

De’Angelo (DA)
Today he still has a month to go until he is a year old. We have been joined at the hip since the puppy stork brought his little tiny 6-week old self to me. Millions of dollars could not part me from my DA – heart of my heart! I would never trade him for a newer model, a million dollars or anything else. Those expressive puppy dog eyes, silly floppy ears, his long chunky body, short stubby legs, and big ole’ feet – how could you not love him? After all, he is perfect!
He gobbles up all of his toys, and then he takes my kitty’s toys and proceeds to do the same to them. I don’t know why (probably it’s love) I cannot get mad about it. I scold him fondly, throw the leftovers away, and then go straight to the 99 cent store and buy him some more! Of course, some might consider this to be a nasty habit, but dogs will chew, and Beagles, in particular, will usually chew on anything. DA prefers toys (for this I am thankful) rather than many things (my things), that he could be eating on; for instance, my shoes, my underwear – and who knows what else. Did I mention that he was perfect?
To me, DA is the personification of beauty, both inside and out. You can’t beat it when your dog gives you endless hours of pleasure, and you never have to doubt about the fact that he worships the ground that you walk on. DA cannot stand for me to be out of his sight for more than, well, less than 30 seconds ( and sometimes not that long.) DA is kind and extremely gentle with small dogs in our neighborhood and with my cats; he loves them, and they love him. He has no problem making friends with any dog he happens to meet. How could you resist loving that?
Is it evident that my life revolves around a dog? Well, I do have the same problem when it comes to my cats and my sugar glider, and I have always been as wrong about horses. I have spent my entire life in the company of animals, and I would not change a thing about that. I grew up on a farm in Tennessee, and animals were just a part of everyday life. Although it has been a very long time since I lived in a rural setting, I still have animals. Not living “down on the farm” has never stopped me. I truly believe that “where there’s a will, there’s a way” - and believe me when I tell you, I can always find a way!
